Everything is Alive

Self

Artist

Everything is Alive is a Mixed Reality Sandbox Music Game where daily objects, plants, and animals are turned into musical instruments that can be tapped and programmed to create melodies and rhythms. 🎡

We want to turn music-making into a fun, wholesome, playful experience with adorable visual elements and an ethos that everything is connected, animated, holistically sensual, and after all, alive.

DEVELOPING JOURNEY

This idea was originally incubated at Xenoform Labs, an artist residency in San Francisco, where the original idea was developed.

Later I brought this project to Edge Esmeralda 2024, where the idea was further developed, and we won the XR hackathon!

In late 2024, I brought this game to the EdgeCity Lanna artist residency, where the game was developed and ready for publishing on the Meta Quest store. See presentation HERE.

MOVING FORWARD

  • This is the first version of a greater concept that aims to animate daily objects around us and turn them into wonderful musical toys.

  • We will keep pushing more updates and new features down the line, thank you for being an early adopter of the game.

  • By getting this game, you are directly supporting our indie studio to bootstrap our effort to continue working on this game!

GAMEPLAY

  • Pick a creature from the Menu

  • Place the creature in the scene

  • Touch the creature to make a sound, or trigger the sequencer from above to program beats

  • When a creature is selected, a menu appears from the bottom that allows it to adjust volume, mute, and delete**.**

CUSTOMIZATION x MONAVERSE

  • You can customize an instrument by downloading 3D assets from Monaverse β€” a platform that supports the interoperability of the open Metaverse.

  • Once you log into Monaverse, you can download the assets, give them a custom audio clip, and save them as an instrument.

  • You can then use this instrument the same way you use other instruments.

MORE WILD IDEAS

Here are a list of ideas we are experimenting with and they would probably all slowly come to the game one by one.

  • Motion Instruments β€” things that make responsive sounds with hand motions, accelerations, and rotations

  • Generative Sounds β€” objects that have generative rules, like clouds that rain, fish swarm particle systems

  • Visual Loopers β€” imagine flowers where each pedal is a node and the sequencer rotates all around them

  • Grabbable Midi β€” imagine MIDI keys where each key can be grabbed, and dragged along a screen.

  • So many more to come!! πŸ΅οΈπŸŒ±πŸŽΆπŸ’“
